Soft Deck?
Although a number of different repair approaches have been done to fix this problem, one that works well is to remove a section of deck from in front of the rear dog house to a spot behind the trailing end of the daggerboard box.
Above picture shows a much larger deck cutout than is necessary for just a soft deck repair. Older Seasprays used bulkheads and these boats didn't suffer from soft decks where you sat on the boat.
Original and early produced boats had full sized bulkheads that were effective in having firm decks and foam floatation was not necessary. Partial plywood bulkheads running from top of hull to at least six inches down the sides should be effective in firming the deck.
Two or three well placed bulkheads placed inside the hull to support the underside of the deck piece removed is a proven solution. 1/8” to 1/4” thick exterior or marine grade plywood pieces shaped to fit inside the hull and conforming to the underside shape of the deck piece removed will give good support. The plywood should fit between the hull sides a bit loosely and glassed in place with fibreglass cloth on both sides of each plywood bulkhead piece (4 pieces total for each plywood bulkhead). Any exposed plywood should be coated with epoxy resin preferably but polyester resin or varnish will work as well. Repair the underside of the deck piece removed if needed and place this piece back on the hull. Use wetted glass cloth strips along the hull deck joint, remember to coat both hull/deck contact surfaces with resin and before placing the deck add some thickened resin to the contact area before clamping (use suitable clothespins or other clamps) the deck back in place. Grind off the gel coat along the cut lines before reglassing this area. Use a number of layers of fibreglass cloth along the cut lines for adequate strength. Finish nicely by sanding/filling/painting, If done right your soft deck will be gone.
GPS Hand Held or GPS Watch
Consider a GPS device or watch to help with your sailing activities. Consider creating a Google Earth file of your sailing area to create waypoints/files to use along with your GPS. This could be done with the current weather conditions in mind. Having a destination to sail to and back can add a lot of interest and challenge.
Sail GP Course
Wind direction from top of picture, start on a reach, then upwind to gate then downwind to downwind gate then finish I think. This might be the race course at the NAs.
